Judy’s primary work is in acrylic or pastel but enjoys creating mixed media and installation
art. She is a native Californian raised in the Central Valley, having moved to rural Solano
County in the 1990’s.
Motivated by the richness of local Solano County history and the verve of the people who
wish to preserve what constitutes ‘landscape’, her work has evolved where land is a
constant underlying theme. With vibrant and energetic brush strokes and deliberate use of
color she creates imagery that evokes sentiment, testimony and contemplative protest.
“My art is a very personal extension of myself, my emotions, my interests and
passions. Every piece I create is my visual voice, either through subject matter, color
selection or brush stroke. It is my conversation, my dialog.
I have always had a love of the land and moving to the country intensified the
emotion. It’s only natural that my artwork reflects this passion.
Whether it is the line and rhythm of the rolling hills, the freshly harvested
produce from our garden or the way a rich farmland is shadowed by development, the
theme is always consistent ~ the land”
